Abstract: Why is the zodiac counterclockwise on astrology charts? What is the Ascendant, really? Where is the Midheaven? The geometry that underlies astrology is made clear with pictures. From the diagrams we can see clearly why there is a problem constructing horoscopes at polar latitudes, and we can see that the Ascendant is the problem.

Abstract: At polar latitudes, the geometrically defined Ascendant and Midheaven can actually be conjunct. This results in a major astrological dilemma of how our discipline applies at polar latitudes: how do we define house cusps?

Abstract: The problem of defining astrological house cusps at polar latitudes is reviewed. A simple solution is proposed. The resulting house system can be used at all latitudes, has house cusps extremely close to Placidus cusps up to 60 latitude, has no jumps in house cusps, and reflects the type of day we experience at polar latitudes.

Abstract: Parallax is explained astronomically, and its significance is discussed. Parallax correction for the Moon's position in horoscopes is recommended since astrology begins with accurate astronomical observation.

Abstract: The practicality of numerous House Systems is evaluated and compared. Some technical features are described. The Topocentric House System is preferred, primarily because it works well in practice and can be used at polar latitudes.
